REIGNING Zimbabwe Hip-Hop champion, Synik, has teamed up with vocalist Depth on an EP project under the title, Soular Rayze.
In an exclusive interview with The Peoples Hub, Synik announced the launch of the duo’s lead single Odyssey this morning.
The talented rapper who scooped four gongs at the Zimbabwe Hip-Hop awards last year for his debut record Syn City, said: “Our project combines the creative energies of two distinct voices from Zimbabwe’s Hip-Hop scene. Soular Rayze ushers in ‘a sunrise in the landscape of Zim rap’. The name denotes the soulful nature of our music; as well as an attempt to disseminate enlightening messages. It also indicates the positive feel behind our music, created with a goal of raising the soul.”
The two first shared a stage at the Shoko festival last year and plotted plans of a collaboration project. Follow up jam sessions – with Synik on acoustic guitar and Depth crafting melodies and hooks – saw the idea solidifying.
Although the release date of the duo’s project is yet to be firmed up, the Odyssey EP is expected to feature the production talents of New Zealand wizard Crime Heat, Nigeria’s Teckzilla and Zimbabwean beatmakers, Griff J Dugan and Klasiqq.
